"True West Magazine Best of the West 2007"
Thanks to our wonderful customers and some really good PR this past season, High Wild & Lonesome has been chosen as "Best Tour Company" by True West Magazine and is highlighted in their 2007 Best of the West Source Book. The write-up on page 23 reads: "Forget that old routine of putting your horse's nose to the tail of the horse ahead of you and taking a trail ride. At High Wild & Lonesome, based out of Big Piney, Wyoming, you'll be riding the range the way you ought to . . . out of the dust of the few other riders with you, possibly at a lope. One focus of these horseback adventures is to let you see free roaming wild horses. Camp is under the stars or in a tent far away from the hustle and bustle of town life (there aren't any big cities in this part of Wyoming to even consider)." Thank you True West, we're working hard to hold onto the Cowboy Way here in the wide-open spaces of Wyoming!
This was the second recognition by True West Magazine for High Wild & Lonesome. We were previously featured in the 2003 50th Anniversary Special Issue for the 2nd Annual Best of the West as the "Best Backcountry Outfitter" by a panel of the magazines' editors and writers. We appreciate the honor and a special thank you to Johnny Boggs, who we think had a little something to do with this recognition!

""Paint the Wind" by Author Pam Munoz-Ryan "
High Wild & Lonesome was graciously recognized by renowned author for young readers Pam Munoz-Ryan, in her new book "Paint the Wind", the story of a young girl whose life intertwines with a wild mustang foal in the Honeycomb Buttes of the Great Divide Basin in Wyoming. Munoz-Ryan spent a week in this rugged wilderness with Bobbi & Mike Wade, where she slept in a tepee along the banks of the Sweetwater River, rode long days in the saddle, and tracked a harem band of mustangs as they roamed their desert territory. The book is available through Scholastic Press, 557 Broadway, NY, NY 10012
